Lent and Sacrifice

Sacrifice. Now that’s a word that we need to hear a little more of in our society. It’s hard to raise our children to understand the importance of sacrifice in a world that thrives on instant gratification. Why should we sacrifice anything? What good would that do? A LOT of good, we say, during Lent. We remember the sacrifice that Jesus made during his 40 days alone in the desert when He was preparing for when he was going to make his biggest sacrifice of all and die for us on the cross. We join HIM by “giving up” things that will help us to become better and more holy people.
